Along with practices and the game, players will be instructed in the business of football and how to succeed in the NFL and in their post-football careers. The NFL Players Association celebrates its 60th year in 2016.
"I went home here and there for the weekends to see my family, but I stayed here and trained with my guys," Johnson said. "My trainers, my speed coach, my weightlifting coach, everything was here. So I stayed here for the most part."
He doesn't get into trouble off the field, and he usually delivers on it, like he did this season when his irritation with his team's play quickly turned around a season seemingly headed nowhere.
The stadium in downtown Minneapolis will be home, not only to the Vikings, but will host a wide range of events, including the Super Bowl in 2018 and the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2019.
"At some point you've got to be a starter if you want to hang around."
"We are confident because we are good and we know it," Palmer said.
